Renaissance Adventure Day: At Renaissance, we have TWO awesome fundraising events. The first is RAD (Renaissance Adventure Day) in the fall and then the second is a live auction, parent only event in the spring. We are kicking off RAD, and in the following weeks you will be seeing a lot of information to keep the excitement level high. RAD is October 7th. All crews will get to participated in a Fun Run, service project, and dance-athon. This day stands out as a highlight to everyone at REMS! And we are in need of your help! We need volunteers to help run the different stations. If you would like to know more or are interested in volutneering, please check out the Parent Crew RAD Info Page. There are lots of great prizes and incentives to collection donations this year. Get registered right away so that your child can be entered for raffle prizes.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities:
-Friday afternoon volunteer- to help plug in the iPads to charge over the weekend and rinse the paint brushes.

-If you are interested in being a lunchroom volunteer please sign up for our time 11:10-11:30 on this lunchroom sign up.
-Here is a classroom volunteer sign-up for days and times to come in. If you can not volunteer for the full time listed- that is no problem! Any amount of one-to-one formation volunteering is much appreciated, even if it is only 20-30 minutes.

Crew Highlights
Tuesday was a special day! Our crew got to dye their drumheads!
A big thank you to all of our volunteers and helpers!

Drums should be done later this week, which means we will have our first crew drum circle next week. We can't wait! :D
Ms. Monica introduced our crew to the Zones of Regulation.
She talked about how to identify your own feelings and how faces look like when they are feeling that way.
We will be using this language in the classroom to talk about our feelings.
*Feel free to use it as a resource for talking about feelings with your family too.
This Wednesday, we had "The Beat." This all school meeting was led my Ms. Mikaela's 1st grade crew (aka last years kindies!). They did AMAZING!
The theme was about what courage means and how we show it.
Hats off to the first graders for truly embodying this value and being excellent role models of a courageous crew!
In phonics, we have been learning about the letter M and the letter S.
It's always more fun to practice letter formation with colored sand!
*Be a letter detective for words that begin with m and s (in conversation and in text).
In writing, we have been working on adding more details to our pictures and words.
*I hope to post on Seesaw tomorrow examples of their amazing work!
In reading, we have been learning about informational text features and how asking questions helps us understand what we are reading.
*Notice the text features of a nonfiction book you are reading together at home.
*Model and prompt for asking questions before and during reading.
Another focus of this week has been talking about the central idea (what the text is mostly about) and important details (tells you about the topic).
*As you are reading: "What is this about? ______ is the central idea. What have we learned about it? These are important details."
In math, we have been practicing with "more," "less," "fewer," "equal," and "the same." Students made observations about our data today that the violin "had fewer votes" than the guitar. :)
Today was "International Dot Day," which is inspired by The Dot. This is a wonderful story that teaches about having a growth mindset and not giving up.
*Growth mindset is something that we are still learning about. Identify and make connections to examples growth mindset at home.
We are in the process of making our own beautiful "dot" works of art that will be displayed in our room next week.
The highlight of Thursday was the annoucement of our 4th grade buddies!
